Create a Linux developer collaboration mobile OS

The widespread deployment in the world smartphone pulled two Linux developer to create mobile operating systems. Both companies are the LiMo Foundation and the GNOME Foundation. They agreed to work together to innovate in the open source world, particularly in the market for mobile operating systems.

In addition, in the near future, the LiMo Foundation will become part of the GNOME Foundation advisory board member, on the contrary
GNOME will become Industry Liaison Partner for the LiMo Foundation.

Quoted by Cellular News, Monday ( 26 / 07 / 2010 ), this development represent a natural formalization based on the use of software component with a significant GNOME mobile platform LiMo release 2 and release 3.

LiMo platform itself is a Linux-based mobile device platforms, including multiple components of the GNOME mobile project as Glib, GTK +, D-Bus, GStreamer and Bluez, and others.

" The goal of the GNOME mobile is a provide a platform to the next stage of client computing. We are commited to bringing quality and freedom to the users of the GNOME on mobile platforms, " said Executive Director of the GNOME Foundation Stormy Peters.

" We are very excited to work with commercial partner such as LiMo Foundation to ensure that the GNOME mobile technology available on mobile devices that connect and combine the LiMo platform, " he said.
