YouTube users can access the secret Snake by pausing the video, and then pressing the left and up arrow keys on their keyboard simultaneously ( give it a few goes - it's pretty sensitive to exactly how simultaneously you press them. )
The minimalist snake and apples will then appear as white dots on the screen - so, pro-tip, don't try playing it on a black and white video like we did, because you'll not be able to see anything.
Snake only works on YouTube videos less than three months old ones uploaded since the new version of the YouTube player was rolled out in April. Older videos don't have Snake in them, and it also doesn't work on embedded videos.
In May, YouTube's owner Google embedded a playable version of Pacman in its logo, to celebrate the iconic game's 30th anniversary.
YouTube also recently had a bit of fun during the World Cup, when every video came with a button allowing you to add the noise of stadium full of vuvuzelas to the soundtrack.
